Centre Nautique de Plouhinec - La Louisette

Sailing on an old rig dating from 1926

Our association located in the heart of Poulgoazec’s harbour has agreed to play its role to uphold the local maritime tradition. It has made it its mission to put this old rig sailing boat back to work and to make it available especially for young people to sail. Its role is educational. The crew is led by a professional sailor and / or a fisherman.

Navigate on board La Louisette from April to October

Each 2.5 hour outing, accessible from 4 years old, allows you to be introduced to the working life of fishermen at the beginning of the century (hoist the sails, cast off the moorings, trim the sails).

A little bit of history

In 1926 La Louisette left the Doucet Barbenchon shipyard near Cherbourg.
For forty years, she was used for small longline fishing before being transformed into a pleasure craft in 1972. It is precisely in this kind of cutter that the inshore fishing of the Cap Sizun was done in the 1930s.

Suffice to say that after 90 years La Louisette knows the many ports of this coast better than many.
To allow her to continue to be sailed, and not to end up dumped to rot on a mudflat, her prior owner donated her to the Plouhinec nautical center in 2014.
